Feldip Hills Map Expansion, Daily Quest Rework, Shooting Stars Event & More Devblog #42

Damn, we sure do seem to like packing a large number of changes into supposed 'smaller' updates, with our 3rd update out this year (and hoping to squeeze another one out before Christmas). Let's get right into it!



Feldip Hills Expansion

Extending the map from Yanille down to the coast of Corsair Cove, the builders have done an amazing job of this map expansion into the Feldip Hills. With a few new travel options to explore, you can board the Corsair Cove charter ship or utilize the Spirit Tree teleportation network.

Containing only a new mobs in the area, the content for this new region will be focused on the upcoming expansion of the Hunter Skill!

Cosmetics

Starting a new character, but want your existing cosmetics items? All existing cosmetics from your bank and inventory will now appear in the items tab for all your characters to access.

Due to this change, cosmetics will no longer be scrapable from the player's inventory. Instead, all duplicates go into the scrap menu to be consistent with other treasure chest rewards, with the ability to exchange them for platinum tokens.



Shooting Stars

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a shooting star!

Our first grouping event is here! Work together with other players to mine shooting stars to collect stardust. With many spawn locations across the world, including the wilderness, this event will be sure to take you on adventures.

Call down a shooting star using event points from the votepool, or keep a look out with your Construction telescope for others falling from the sky. Discord notifications are also enabled if you want to be notified for shooting star events.

Stardust can be spent at Dusuri's Star shop in Falador near the top entrance to the Mining Guild. Dusuri stocks bag full of gems, soft clay packs and Celestial Rings for sale. Charge the Celestial ring with stardust by using them together in your inventory. Wearing the ring provides a +4 mining boost and a 10% chance to receive double ores when mining rocks up to Adamantite.



Daily Quests Rework

From un-completable item quests to only rewarding a few platinum tokens, daily quests have been lacking even since they were introduced. Thanks to the QA team and the community feedback for fleshing out the new dailies system.

Skill quests take into account your current level for tasks and item-gathering quests have been simplified to 25 basic items to collect, eg: red spiders eggs & eyes of newt.

Project Rebalance

Old School is out there changing up the meta, with many changes to gameplay elements we know players will love.

Ore mining speed is now inline and more accurate with changes to pickaxe times and ore chances. Mining gloves have had major changes to functionality. Mining Gloves are guaranteed to save a rock X amount of times dependant on the tier of Gloves and tier of Rocks.

Say goodbye to the Mort Myre bridge strat (RIP HC MinerID 2021), and give a warm welcome to starting Draynor rooftop agility at level 1! New agility shortcuts have been added to Barrows and Taverley walls, with changes to Red Dragon Brimhaven dungeon shortcut levels and no longer requiring diaries.

More Slayer changes include adjusting mob types and quantities, and the ability to swap your current task with your stored task.

Improved Thieving stalls, with decreased respawn timers and additional rewards. Thanks to GamerFriend for bringing this one up. Farmers will also appreciate the now included seed stalls in Draynor.



Notes


The team appreciates all the support from the community, and we are always striving to increase the benefits for players who support us without affecting gameplay.

For players who support us through membership, we have opened up the test world for you to join and play around with upcoming changes. Changes will be notified in the discord as they are added, make sure to keep an eye out so you can be one of the first to try the upcoming Hunter skill! Members will now also notice buttons new hop and world selector buttons in the chatbox menu for quickly switching worlds.

Thanks to everyone who alerted us to issues with noted icons, with some changes to how they are generated the updated icons should be more accurate. Please notify us again in the discord if you find any issues with the updated icons

Speaking of the discord. Not online and want to talk with players in-game? With the server-chat channel, you can now send messages from Discord to in-game players. This requires using the link-accounts function to prevent abuse.

The music website is back up and running! Vibe out to nostalgic tunes as you explore MineScape https://music.minescape.me. This is an intermediary step, we are looking to improve the music system even more with correct music tile regions potentially in the next update.

Sick of having to reorganize your bank because of using a unique or non-stackable item? Well, don't we just have the cure for you, no payment necessary, free of charge or your money back! With the ability to lock unique/non-stackable items in the bank, fear no longer Effigyluza, you can have some of your sanity back.

Alongside the shooting star event being enabled on the votepool, you might also notice the updated icons and a new feature. You can now extend double exp whilst it is already active, meaning no more downtime in exp between votepools!
